Using Flixby

These terms govern your use of flixby.app, operated personally by Vlad Radu (“Flixby,” “we,” or “us”). By using Flixby, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.

You must be at least 16 and meet any higher minimum age that applies where you live. If you are not legally able to agree to these terms independently, you need a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision.

A movie discovery service

Flixby helps you discover films and organize saved, queued, and watched movies, ratings, and reviews. Recommendations and taste-match scores are estimates, not promises that you will enjoy a film. Movie information, trailers, availability, and external links may be inaccurate, incomplete, or change over time. Flixby does not provide streaming rights or guarantee access to a movie.

The service is evolving. Features may change or be unavailable, and synchronization can be interrupted. Keep exports of information important to you. Flixby currently offers its core service without a subscription fee; any future paid offering will have its price and terms presented before you choose to purchase it.

Your account

Use only accounts and email addresses you are authorized to control. Keep verification codes and sign-in credentials private. You are responsible for your activity, except where applicable law provides otherwise. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Account linking requires verified sign-in. A matching typed email address alone does not prove ownership. Guest activity may remain separate until you import it. Review the account shown before importing or deleting data, especially on a shared device.

Your content

You retain your rights in reviews and other content you submit. You give Flixby a non-exclusive permission to store, reproduce, process, and display that content only as needed to operate the service for you, sync your profile, provide recommendations, and support your requests, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Submit only content you have the right to use. Do not include unlawful material or another person’s private information without permission. Your movie reviews are currently part of your personal profile, not a public review feed.

Acceptable use

Do not use Flixby to break the law, impersonate someone, access another person’s account, distribute malicious code, bypass access controls or rate limits, or disrupt the service. Do not extract or redistribute third-party movie content in violation of its owners’ rights. Good-faith security reports are welcome at our contact address.

Your handle, name, photo, taste line and published lists can be seen by other people. Don’t use them, or friend requests, to harass, threaten or spam anyone, or to post sexual, hateful or violent content. You can block or report anyone from their profile page. We may remove content, a handle, or an account that breaks these rules.

The Flixby API

You can use a personal API key to let an app read and change your own Flixby lists, as described in the API guide. You are responsible for the apps you give a key to and for what they do with your lists; revoke a key in Settings → Apps & API when you stop trusting an app. If you build an app, use only keys you are allowed to use, stay within the published limits, look up film details from TMDB under its own terms, and don’t use the API to spam or harm anyone. We may change the API with notice, and revoke keys that break these terms.

Flixby and third-party content

Flixby’s branding, software, and design are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. These terms permit your use of the service; they do not transfer ownership of those materials.

Movie metadata and images are supplied by TMDB and other credited rights holders. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Trailers and linked sites belong to their respective providers. Your use of Google, YouTube, and other external services is subject to their own terms. Flixby is not affiliated with or endorsed by them merely because it supports their services.

Stopping use and deleting data

You can stop using Flixby at any time. “Delete my account” in My account deletes your sign-in, your cloud movie profile and lists, your API keys, and your recommendation events; it does not remove guest or browser copies on your devices. See the Privacy Policy for details.

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats, legal obligations, or serious violations of these terms. Where practical and lawful, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. You may contact us to ask for a review.

Availability and responsibility

We aim to provide a useful and reliable service, but cannot promise uninterrupted operation, error-free content, or that all data will always sync successfully. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without additional warranties beyond those required by law.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes your mandatory consumer rights. Any applicable statutory guarantees continue to apply.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will update the date and give prominent notice of material changes before they take effect where required. If you do not accept revised terms, you may stop using the service and request deletion of your account. Changes do not remove rights that already arose under applicable law.

Please contact us first about a concern so we can try to resolve it. These terms do not require arbitration or prevent you from using courts or consumer remedies available to you under applicable law.
